MAKE YOUR HOME GYM THE SECRET TO YOUR HEALTH AND FITNESS SUCCESS

A home gym is a defined space in someone’s house that contains equipment that helps them meet their health and fitness goals. It is more convenient than going to the gym, more cost effective than a country club and promotes family unity.

ADVANTAGES OF A HOME GYM

  • No Monthly Membership
You own the equipment, rather than renting a seat
  • Convenience
Time your workout to suit your schedule, 24/7, start early or finish late
  • No Gym Rules, Just House Rules
Grunt if you need to, play your music loud, and get healthy
  • Increased Commitment
You can’t use the “it’s snowing outside” excuse any longer – get to it!
  • Fewer Germs (hopefully)
Without the crowds, you’ll hopefully experience a safer workout
  • Self-Esteem & Privacy
No unwanted spectators, unless you count your kids or pets

CHECKLIST FOR MEETING YOUR GOALS WITH A HOME GYM

Once you decide on a goal for your space, there are a number of items to research and many considerations you’ll need to keep in mind:

  • Goals – what are your goals for the space?
  • Other Users – who will use this room? How old, how often, and what are their goals?
  • Design – how can I arrange the equipment for maximum efficiency and flow?
  • Location – where in my home will I be able to fit the required equipment?

Do I have existing dedicated space? Can I convert an existing space? Can I build a new space? Is the basement/garage free? Physical characteristics of the space (electrical, light, temperature, flooring, cleanliness, sturdiness, etc.)

  • Equipment – which categories/pieces of equipment are necessary to meet my goals?
  • Timing – how quickly do you want/need to meet your goals?
  • Priorities – what is critical to meeting your goal and what can be added later?
  • Budget range
  • Existing Equipment and Preparation – do you have anything covered already? Does the space need to be cleaned or converted?
